Painting by proxy
Canvasses are placed on tables, and painting/drawing material is provided. The participant must connect with an associate from a remote location and accept realtime instructions to paint any subject matter, based on the inspiration of that remote person. The exchange may be implemented by continual feedback via texting and image exchange, through Messenger, Viber, WhatsApp, or Skype. The action uses technology to inspire artistic creativity and symbolises the augmented digital hyper-connection of humanity, and the interdependence between humans who are constantly and increasingly online. It reflects inspiration from two brains, the remote and the on-site. The action is based on the notion of Simulated Annealing (a slow decrease in the probability of accepting worse solutions as the solution space is explored).
